Lab Details:
Improving balance is far more than creating challenges in complex positions, and at The Neuro Studio, we refuse to reduce balance to a conversation about proprioception or rely on fancy tools that rarely translate outside the studio or clinic. In this lab, Meghann will teach specific exercises and simple progressions that support all three neurological systems that determine balance, helping reduce chronic pain, dizziness, and instability.
This is not a “stand on one leg” workshop filled with visual charts or gimmicky games. Instead, you’ll explore how the nervous system collects, prioritizes, and interprets sensory information to create reflexive stability – and what happens when one system becomes overloaded, under‑responsive, or unreliable. You’ll experience firsthand how subtle changes in sensory input can dramatically shift your balance, coordination, and sense of safety in movement.
Throughout the day, you’ll break balance down into meaningful, trainable components. You’ll learn how to identify which system is driving a client’s instability, how to choose the right entry point, and how to build strategies that create real, lasting change rather than temporary compensation.
You will also:
- Walk away with improved balance yourself, because it starts with you understanding the shifts in your own body
- Feel how vision, vestibular input, and proprioception each influence balance in real time
- Learn simple yet powerful exercises that fill sensory gaps and improve the body’s ability to respond (aka stabilize)
- Understand why some clients struggle with balance even when their proprioception is strong
- Discover how to shift neurological focus to decrease clients’ fear of falling
- Leave with practical, repeatable tools you can use immediately with clients
Can't join us in Person?
Join us on Zoom! And we know what you might be thinking. It's not the same as being there. And honestly? You're partially right. You won't get the deep dish pizza. But everything else...the learning, the feedback, the depth of the work, that part travels just fine.
Here's what the Zoom room actually looks like:
While Meghann is working with the in-person group, Mariska in the Zoom with you. Real-time feedback, actual cueing, breakout sessions where you get to practice and be seen, not just observe. Then we swap. Meghann works with Zoom participants, and Mariska answers questions from the in-person participants.
Full court press, both directions.
Also, whether you are in-person or on Zoom, you will walk away with a recording. For life. Because neuroscience is not a one-listen situation. You’ll want a refresh every now and then.
